What possibilities do the words of the line open up for the role the Weïrd Sisters will play in Macbeth? What questions do the words raise? What answers are implied? What connections do these words make with other lines in the play?
- Annotate: Macbeth 1.5, 1.6, 1.7: (pp. 16-26)

- Journal: Select either Macbeth or Lady Macbeth and write about the tensions evident in the lines they speak in Act 1. What does your character want most of all? What external obstacles lie in the way? What internal concerns or conflicts does your character have?
